Is the killing of Baitullah Mehsud's wife (number 2!) a change in tactics or is the noose finally tightening around Mehsud and his close associates? Are the extremists being told that if you can kill civilians randomly through your suicide bombings then we will also kill your women and children.
After all the Pakistan Taliban have employed just such a strategy by killing famiy members of provincial lawmakers in the Northwest Frontier Province. Close relatives as 'high value targets?'
