Pakistan's Swat Valley Schools Reopen

A glimmer of hope drifts out of the Swat Valley.

After three months of closure due to the ongoing unrest, schools and other primary educational institutions in the valley have reopened.

To be more specific, those schools which are still standing and are not refugee camps or barracks for the military.

Many schools in Swat now operate as 'Tent Schools'

It is a small step in the right direction and signals that life is slowly limping back to normalcy in the valley. However, the security situation remains fragile and much more is necessary before a complete return to the 'pre-Taliban' status quo.
